Nafziger, Doris Marie King
October 29, 1921 - June 25, 2020
Doris Marie Nafziger, 98, a long-time resident of Greencroft Goshen, peacefully left her earthly home on June 25, 2020, and was welcomed into her eternal home in heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Doris was born on October 29, 1921, to Harvey and Carrie (Rupp) King, Archbold, Ohio. At age 13 she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized at Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.
Doris is remembered as a virtuous woman by all who knew and loved her. She loved God’s Word and was a woman of prayer; her heart’s concern was that her children and grandchildren come to a relationship with Jesus and serve God with their whole hearts. Numerous family members described her as being more like Jesus than anyone they knew.
On July 23, 1944, Doris married Chester Joel Nafziger. They lived in Pettisville, Ohio, until 1956 when they moved to a farm near Tedrow, Ohio, and joined Tedrow Mennonite Church. Chester tragically died in a truck accident on January 17, 1969. Their union was blessed with six children, all of whom survive: Ruth Ann (Vic) Hildebrand, Westfield, Indiana; Rachel Marie Hartzler and Marilyn Moe, Goshen; Chester Leroy “Lee” Nafziger, Russell’s Point, Ohio; Leonard (Margaret) Nafziger, Bryan, Ohio; and Mark (Stephanie) Nafziger, Rochester, Indiana. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen King, Sarasota, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and “foster” children and grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a daughter-in-law JoAnn (Shively) Nafziger; a son-in-law Harold E. Hartzler; a grandson Chris Moe; two Hildebrand great-granddaughters; siblings: Ilva (Leland) Wyse, Ella (Dennis) Nofziger, Mildred (Everett) Smith, Beulah (Truman) Grieser, and Ralph (Clela) King; sisters-in-law, Margaret King and Dorris Stoll King; and brothers-in-law and their wives: Clifford (Mary) Nafziger, Freeman (Marian) Nafziger, and Maurice (Dorothy) Nafziger.
Doris excelled in school, graduating third in her class at Archbold High School in 1939. (One of her nephews thought of her as a “walking encyclopedia.”) She worked at Erie Sauder’s factory for a while, but she didn't like using a hammer and electric sander, so she found a job she enjoyed— working as a salesperson at Archbold Dry Goods store on Main Street in Archbold. This likely helped to prepare her for a lifetime of sewing, making clothing for herself and her daughters, mending everything from jeans to undergarments, quilting, and making many gifts, particularly sock monkeys and ABC bags.
Following high school Doris went with some girlfriends to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for a six-week Bible School course. In her early twenties she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was involved in the Literary Society (young people’s group) of the Central Mennonite Church—which is where she learned to know Chester, her future husband.
Doris was a stay-at-home mother until her six children were all in school. She then began doing domestic work in homes and businesses, including as a custodian at Pettisville School in Ohio and at Zion Chapel in Goshen.
Doris and her two youngest sons moved to Elkhart County in 1972, and she became a member of Zion Chapel (now Harvest Community Church) in Goshen. She became a spiritual mother to many, including Mary (Miller) Borntrager, Jackie Diehl, and Tanneken Fros. In 1997 she was honored at a Zion Chapel Ladies’ meeting as “Woman of the Year.”
Doris was very much a family woman. She faithfully loved and honored her husband during the 24 years of their marriage. After being widowed at age 47, Doris had opportunities to pursue another marriage, but she made a deliberate choice to remain single, freeing herself to be deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and other friends—in the church and beyond. The decision to move to the Goshen area in 1972 was motivated by her desire to spend more time with her adult children and grandchildren. Over the years, Doris spent many weeks in the daily care of grandchildren, especially during times of serious illness and tragedy. She delighted in her grandchildren! She read to them, played games with them, and made treats, especially birthday cakes in creative shapes such as animals, cars, trains, and rocket ships!
Hospitality was an important way that Doris expressed faith and love. She was a good cook and gracious hostess. Her children remember meals around her table in all the homes where she lived for over seventy years—the apartment in Pettisville above the shop, the farm house near Tedrow where the dining room table was often extended, her home in Pettisville close to the school, her home in Dunlap where she lived for a few years, her home on Wilson Avenue along the canal in Goshen, and her two different apartments at Greencroft in Goshen—one in Manor II and one in Manor III. In addition to serving meals to her family, she served neighbors and church friends. When there were more guests than would fit around her table in her apartment, she would host groups in the Oak Court Social Room, up to fifty at a time!
Doris had moved to Greencroft in 1989 and nearly set a record, residing there over 30 years. For many years she volunteered once or twice a week in the gift shop beside the Sideboard. She also frequently assisted in the healthcare dining rooms.
Doris enjoyed traveling with her children, within the U.S., to Canada, and beyond. She went to Switzerland and Germany with Ruth Ann’s family, to the Bahamas with Leonard’s family, and to Little Eden Camp with Rachel’s family. Most exciting were trips to Florida in a plane that Mark was piloting.
Doris kept in touch with her family near and far. She wrote countless letters, including to her grandchildren when they were in college. Those letters contained a dollar bill and a stick of gum. Until about a year before her death, she sent birthday greetings to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their spouses. For many years she gave her grandchildren and great-grandchildren two-dollar bills for birthday and Christmas gifts. In fact, she gave two-dollar bills to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were present at a family gathering in her honor on December 26, 2019.
Doris loved to sing. She sang on car trips, as she worked around her home, and in her healthcare room, including in the days leading up to her death. She sang scripture songs and praise songs and hymns from long ago, especially hymns about heaven and the hymn “Trust and Obey,” her mother’s favorite. She often tapped her toes as she sang!
Doris was an avid reader and spent countless hours reading to her children and grandchildren. Her home library was always small, but she regularly accessed the church library and the public library. She also loved to play games, particularly table games and group games at family gatherings. Most of her grandchildren remember her getting the word “slinky” when playing charades at about eighty years of age. Her pantomiming a slinky walking down steps was unforgettable! She laughed and her laugh was contagious!
In her later years, Doris spent many hours putting together puzzles and playing Rummikub. She enjoyed Rummikub so much that she sometimes played by herself. In fact, she played a simplified version of Rummikub with Marilyn two days before she died.
Known as “Gram” to her grandchildren, Doris was loved, cherished, and respected. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. She fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith, and has now entered into the joy of her Lord.
Visitation will be at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 South Main St., Goshen, on Tuesday, July 7, 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be on Wednesday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. in Pettisville, Ohio. A celebration of life memorial service will on Wednesday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Harvest Community Church, 17285 County Rd 34, Goshen. The family will receive friends before the service between 4:30 and 6 p.m.
Nafziger, Leon Jay
November 3, 1937 - November 19, 2020
Leon Jay Nafziger, 83, died Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born November 3, 1937 in Archbold, Ohio where he grew up on the family farm. Prior to his marriage he served two years of 1W Service in LaJunta, Colorado.
On April 30, 1960 he married Juanita Brenneman at East Goshen Mennonite Church. They raised their family in Goshen and have been active Goshen residents.
She survives along with three children, Kathy (Len) Emery, Donna M. (Mark) DeVito and Daryl (Colleen) Nafziger, all of Goshen; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Carolyn (Howard) Snyder of Pettisville, Ohio, Alene (Danny) DeCoster of Belgium, Tiye (Patrick) Calavan of Loma Colorado, Julia (Steve) Nafziger of Archbold, Ohio and Angela (Steve) Gerig of Goshen; and two brothers, P. Joe (Carol) Nafziger of Wauseon, Ohio and Gilbert James Nafziger of Archbold, Ohio.
Along with his parents, Ervin Jay and Marjorie (Aeschliman) Nafziger, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and George Nafziger.
An attendee of Clinton Frame Church, family was very important to Leon, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Nafziger was most recently a groundskeeper at Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Middlebury. He also worked at Burger Dairy, Troyer Poultry and Starcraft Marine. He enjoyed the outdoor activities like gardening and mowing.
Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2020, from 12, noon, until 1:30 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church. A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday at the church. Nephew, Ryan Nafziger, will officiate.
Memorial donations may be given to Clinton Frame Church.
Neff, Helen C. Miller
September 12, 1927 - December 15, 2020
Helen C. Neff, 93, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in LaGrange.
She was born on September 12, 1927, in LaGrange County, to J. Elmer and Rosa Ann (Yoder) Miller.
Helen was a homemaker and a longtime member of Shore Church in Shipshewana, IN. She enjoyed doing many church activities and volunteering at the LaGrange County Food and Clothes Basket.
On March 12, 1949, she married Wayne R. Neff in LaGrange, IN. Wayne preceded Helen in death on August 9, 2019.
Surviving Helen are her three daughters; Sherrill (Barry) Sturgis of LaGrange, Jean (Tim) Bontreger of White Pigeon, MI, Nancy (Dennis) Funk of Greer, SC, four sons; Delmer (Barb) Neff of Sturgis, MI, Robert (Michele) Neff of LaGrange, Richard (Kathy) Neff of Rockwell, TX, and Keith (Jennifer) Neff of Howe; 20 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosalie Yoder of Topeka; and a brother, DeWayne Miller of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, 7 sisters and 8 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Shore Church,7235 W 100 N, Shipshewana, IN. The Pastor Carl Horner will officiate and burial will take place in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
A visitiation will be held at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St., LaGrange, IN on Thursday, December 17th, from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be contributed in Helen’s memory to the Gideon’s.
Newcomer, John L., 86, of Lancaster, PA died May 22, 2020 in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, PA. He was born October 17, 1933 in Manor Township, Lancaster County, PA to J. Vernon and Hazel (Barley) Newcomer. On September 15, 1956 he was married to Kay Shertz, who was born September 12, 1938 and survives.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise Herr and Diane and Robert Black; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris, and brother, Kenneth.
Burial services were held May 29, 2020 at Masonville Cemetery, Lancaster County, PA.
John's life will be honored at a Memorial Service at Landisville Mennonite Church to be determined at a later date.
Newswanger, David Z.
December 30, 1932 - February 20, 2020
David Z. Newswanger, 87 years, 1 month and 21 days, of Fortuna, MO passed away on February 20, 2020, at his home. He was born December 30, 1932, in East Earl, PA, the son of Samuel S. and Lydia (Zimmerman) Newswanger, both of whom preceded David in death.
On October 27, 1955, in Kutztown, PA, David was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Eby) Kulp, who survives of the home. David was a member of the Clear View Mennonite Church of the Groffdale Conference. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include 7 sons, Floyd K. Newswanger (Alice) of Versailles, MO, Daniel K. Newswanger (Beverly) of Tipton, MO, James K. Newswanger (Rachel) of Latham, MO, Lewis K. Newswanger (Martha) of Tipton, MO, Elvin K. Newswanger (Martha) of Fortuna, MO, Earl K. Newswanger (Elva) of Versailles, MO, and Harold K. Newswanger (Lynn) of Eldon, MO; 5 daughters, Florence Shirk (David) of Barnett, MO, Alta Newswanger of Fortuna, MO, Erma Kilmer (Daniel) of Versailles, MO, Wilma Kilmer (Martin) of Versailles, and Annetta Nolt (David) of Barnett, MO; 1 brother, Reuben Newswanger (Ella) of Shelba, OH; 2 sisters, Catherine Newswanger of East Earl, PA, and Lena Nolt of Fleetwood, PA; 3 sisters-in-law, Rachel Newswanger of Kutztown, PA, Sarah Newswanger of Leola, PA, Vera Newswanger of East Earl, PA; 76 grandchildren, and 107 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Irene Newswanger; 5 brothers, Wayne, Isaac, Amos, Samuel and Phares Newswanger; 1 brother-in-law, Samuel Nolt; 2 sisters-in-law, Anna Newswanger and Suetta Newswanger; 1 granddaughter, Grace Elaine Kilmer; 1 great-granddaughter, Kendra Grace Shirk.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2020, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the David and Mary Ann Newswanger home. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Clearview Mennonite Church near Versailles, Mo. with Nelson Weaver, Aaron Shirk, Harry Leinbach, Michael Martin, and Jason Nolt officiating. Interment will be held at Clearview Mennonite Church Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Windmill Ridge Funeral Service of California, Mo.
Newswanger, Edith F. Sauder
July 6, 1941 - April 14, 2020
Edith F. Newswanger, 78, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 after a 6 month battle with nasal cancer.
She was married for 56 years to Daniel Z. Newswanger. Born July 6, 1941 in Churchtown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Fannie Fox Sauder.
She was a homemaker and for the last 20 years had worked as a nurse's aide at Sunny Crest Home. She was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Lavern husband of Vera Jane Newswanger, and Leonard husband of Arlene W. Newswanger, both of Morgantown; nine daughters, Lorrene wife of Samuel Zimmerman, Elaine wife of Walter Hoover, Marie wife of Lloyd Nolt, all of Dundee, NY, Lillian wife of Harold Leid of Greenwich, OH, Pauline wife of Nelson Zimmerman, Joanne wife of Kurvin Zimmerman, and Linda wife of Kevin Hall all of Livingston, WI, Rosene wife of Floyd Kevin Ringler and Luann wife of Luke Wayne Brubaker both of Plattesville, WI; 69 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lydia Leid, Mary Nolt, Ella wife of Harvey Newswanger, twin sister Edna wife of David Zimmerman, and Emma wife of John W. Zimmerman; a brother, Samuel husband of Bertha Sauder; and a sister-in-law, Esther Sauder. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Newswanger, a brother, David Sauder, a sister, Anna Martin and by two infant grandsons.

Newswanger, Stella M.
September 22, 1930 - March 7, 2020
Stella M. Newswanger, 89, passed into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Landis Homes Retirement Community.
Born in White Horse, PA, she was the daughter of the late Reuben W. and Mary E. Ressler Newswanger.
Stella served as a missionary with the Eastern Mennonite Missions in Tanzania from 1964 to 1983, managing the bookstore in Musoma and also as bookkeeper at Shirati Hospital. She continued her life of service with Choice Books in St. Croix and Puerto Rico for 15 years afterwards.
She was a member of the Nickel Mines Mennonite Church, where she had been a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elva Gascho, Miriam Newswanger, Anna Slaymaker, and Rhoda Smoker, and her 4 brothers, Paul, Roy, R. Willard, and Everett Newswanger.
There will be a visitation at the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes Retirement Community, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543 on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 1-4PM and again on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 9-10AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 10AM. Interment will be private in Paradise Mennonite Cemetery.
Nightingale, Geneva Mae Jantz
June 18, 1934 - August 27, 2020
Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Geneva Mae Jantz Nightingale was born to Henry and Matilda Nightingale Jantz on June 18, 1934, near Copeland, Kansas. She peacefully passed away at the Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kansas on August 27, 2020 at eighty-six years of age.
When Mother was very young together with her parents and two older sisters they moved from Kansas to Fairview, Oklahoma because of health issues brought on from dust storms. She received her elementary education at Standard School near Fairview, Oklahoma, a mile and a half from her home. At the age of 15 she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Min. Dan Smith on March 19, 1950 at Fairview, Oklahoma. She remained faithful to her vows to the end.
On December 15, 1957, she was joined in marriage to Cecil Nightingale by Min. Abe D. Koehn at Fairview, Oklahoma. At that time, he was in 1-W service in Kansas City. After he completed his time of service, they made their home at Chickasha, Oklahoma where God blessed them with three sons. In January of 1968 they felt the Lord leading them to move their family to Cleveland, Mississippi. Four years later, feeling the need to be closer to their congregation, they moved to Leland, Mississippi. Dad was ordained to the ministry in January of 1973. In her quiet way Mom faithfully supported her husband in his calling. This calling led them to move to Bloomfield in November of 1997 to shepherd the new small congregation. This move was a highlight for Mom and generously gave of herself in this endeavor.
We have many treasured memories of how mother filled her place in our home. She was a structured person and this entered into many areas of her life. Mom's daily devotion time is a special memory to us. Many will remember her well rounded Sunday dinner of delicious roast, rice, and gravy.
Due to failing health they moved to Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kansas in December of 2009. In February of 2012 the Lord called Dad home leaving Mom alone but in the tender care of the Manor staff and personnel. We wish to express our deep appreciation for all the loving care given to Mom.
Left to cherish precious memories are her sons; Arlo and wife, Melody, Hollandale, Mississippi, Larry and wife Susan, Pulaski, Iowa, Leonard and wife Sandra, Trumann, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, sisters; Viola Smith, Leland, Mississippi, Jaletta Yost, and Marilyn Johnson, Brooksville, Mississippi, and a close family friend Willie and Blasa Gonzalez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and three brothers-in-law, Frank and Arvilla Nightingale, Moundridge, Kansas, John and MaryAnn Nightingale, Montezuma, Kansas, Vernon Nightingale, Fairview, Oklahoma, two sisters-in-law: Sadie Nightingale, Montezuma, Kansas, Carolyn Nightingale, Leland, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters, 13 brothers-in-law, 10 sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Bloomfield Mennonite Church with Daryl Toews and Weldon Becker officiating. Burial will be at the Bloomfield Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 7-9:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Mennonite Church.
Nisley, Elizabeth E. Bontrager
December 1, 1933 - March 23, 2020
Elizabeth E. Nisley, 86, of Shipshewana, passed away at 3:30 am on Monday, March 23, at her residence, after a brief illness. She was born on December 1, 1933 in LaGrange County. On March 8, 1955 in LaGrange County she married Irvin Nisley, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are six daughters, LeAnna (Freeman) Miller of Shipshewana, Katie (Tobie) Miller of LaGrange, Treva (Henry) Yoder of Shipshewana, Marietta (Vernon) Bontrager of Middlebury, Erma Nisley of Fort Wayne, Wanita (Eli) Brenneman of Sarasota, FL; son, David (Lorene) Nisley of Bloomingdale, MI; 32 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren; sister, Laura (Ivan) Schmucker of Dalton, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Amanda (Mullet) Bontrager; a grandson; a great grandson; four brothers, infants Jerry and Ervin Bontrager, Mahlon Bontrager, Melvin Bontrager, two sisters, infant Nona Bontrager and Annie Miller.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

September 7, 1934 - March 26, 2020
Esther Nisley, 85, of Goshen, died at 8:00 am, on Thursday, March 26 at Courtyard of Goshen. She was born on September 7, 1934, in Goshen, to Cephas and Millie (Hostetler) Nisley.
Surviving are sister-in-law, Laura Nisley of Sarasota, FL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fannie Hochstetler, MaryAnna Yoder; three brothers, Ray Nisley, John Nisley, Willis Nisley.
Esther worked making pies at the Essenhaus in Middlebury for many years. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Nisley, Irvin A.
October 3, 1932 - October 8, 2020
Irvin A. Nisley, 88, of Shipshewana, died at 5:40 pm, on Thursday, October 8 from complications of a stroke he suffered in May. He was born on October 3, 1932, in Elkhart County, to Amos J. and Saloma (Miller) Nisley. On March 8, 1955 in LaGrange County, he married Elizabeth E. Bontrager; she died March 23, 2020.
Surviving are six daughters, LeAnna (Freeman) Miller of Shipshewana, Katie (Tobie) Miller of LaGrange, Treva (Henry) Yoder of Shipshewana, Marietta (Vernon) Bontrager of Middlebury, Erma Nisley of Fort Wayne, Wanita (Eli) Brenneman of Sarasota, FL; son, David (Lorene) Nisley of Bloomingdale, MI; 32 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren; brother, Olen Nisley of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a grandson and great-grandson; two brothers, Daniel and Jonas Nisley; two sisters, Anna Mae Adams and Lydia Ann Eash.
Irvin worked in the factory and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 10 and all day Sunday, October 11 at the family residence, 0285 S. 900 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, October 12 also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Marvin Bontrager and the home ministers. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Nisley, Kathryn V.
November 8, 1930 - May 4, 2020
Kathryn V. Nisley, 89, of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Arthur, Illinois died Monday, May 4, 2020 at Providence Place at Glencroft Senior Living.
Funeral services are pending with Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, Illinois.
Kathryn was born November 8, 1930 in Lovington, Illinois the daughter of Valentine E. and Anna A. Schrock Nisley.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Edna Gingerich of Arthur; Faye Yoder of Littleton, Colorado; brother, Paul Nisley of Arcola; 3 nieces, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Irene Butler.
Kathryn graduated from Hesston College, Hesston, Kansas in 1954 and from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana in 1959; She did her Dietetic Internship at in University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1960. All of Kathryn’s life was spent in dietetics and she was a clinical dietician for over 30 years.
She was a member of Sunnyslope Mennonite Church in Phoenix, Arizona and had attended the Arthur Mennonite Church, Arthur, Illinois.
Because of her interest in service to the church, 25 of those years were spent in church-related institutions. She was Chief Dietician for 15 years at Lebanon Community Hospital, Lebanon, Oregon and for 10 years at Glencroft Retirement Home, in Glendale, Arizona. Her last employment was at Plaza Del Rio Care Center, Peoria, Arizona.
Noll, Benjamin Harnish, Jr.

Benjamin Harnish Noll, Jr., 89, of Spring Grove, PA, entered God's eternal care, Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. Born July 11, 1931 in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin H., Sr., and Elsie B. (Weaver) Noll.
Benjamin was the loving husband of the late Alta Mae (Bomberger) Noll who died May 25, 2006, and with whom he shared fifty-two years of marriage. Benjamin was a member of Hershey's Mennonite Church, Thomasville, PA, and served as a Deacon for fifty years.
Benjamin was a 1949 graduate of East Hempfield High School, Landisville, PA. He was a life-long farmer, and also worked as a clerk at Paul Sensenig's Meats and Tanger's Hardware. Benjamin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Benjamin is survived by his daughters, Barbara J. Brougher and her husband Pete of Spring Grove, PA, and Evelyn R. Halteman and her husband Edwin of Carlisle, PA; nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lois E. Boll and her husband Roy; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Herr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi W. Herr.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Bair's Mennonite Meeting House, 6925 York Road, Hanover, PA with moderator Elvin Rohrer officiating. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2020, and from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the church.

David S. Nolt, 90, formerly on New Holland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 2016 Wheat Ridge Drive, Ephrata. His wife, Vera M. (Martin) Nolt, survives.
David was the son of the late Noah and Anna (Sensenig) Nolt and had been a farmer and had a home improvement business, Eagle Exteriors.
He was a member of Pequea Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, where he used his love of singing as a song leader. He was also an EMT for New Holland Ambulance for many years. He was blessed to have grandchildren following in his steps in singing and song leading and in the medical profession.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters: Doris Martin (Irvin), New Holland, Sandra Martin (Luke), Lititz, Charlene Reiff (Glenn), Lititz, Cheryl Weiler, (Lester), New Holland, Julia Musser (Donald), Lebanon, 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, four siblings: Willis Nolt (Margaret), Marian Hursh (Ivan), Elva Seibel (Irvin), Kathryn Martin (Mervin), and two sisters-in-law: Anna Nolt and Martha Nolt. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jonas Nolt and Marvin Nolt.
His funeral will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Pequea Mennonite Church with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman, Jeremy Martin, Marlin Zimmerman and Paul Newswanger officiating. Edith R. Nolt, 85, of 730 Lincoln Gardens Rd., Ephrata, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael S. Nolt in 2008.
Born in Ephrata Twp., she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Lena (Rutt) Burkholder.
She was a homemaker and a member of Springville Mennonite Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Fern Edith Nolt, with whom she resided, a step son William H. married to Irene M. (Nolt) Nolt, Denver, ten step grandchildren, 15 step great-grandchildren, two step great-great-grandsons, and six siblings: Leroy Burkholder, Ephrata, Lloyd Burkholder, Lancaster, Earla married to Earl Martin, Robesonia, Clair married to Verna Burkholder, Myerstown, Willis married to Anna Mary Burkholder, Stevens, Carl married to Nora Burkholder, NY.
She was preceded in death by a step daughter Mary Ann married to Joseph Y. Peachey, and three siblings: Alta married to Amos Sensenig, Levi married to Alma Burkholder and Ida married to John Garman.

Elmer Z. Nolt, 80, of Talmage, PA, passed away early Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at Ephrata Community Hospital, following a brief illness. Elmer was married to Minerva M. Nolt (Weaver). They would be celebrating 62 years in December. Born in Akron, PA, he was the son of the late Amos and Ada Nolt. He will also be missed by his four children: Wanda, wife of Carl Musser of Stevens, Marie, wife of Dale Martin of Myerstown, Barry Nolt, husband of Dawn (Stroud) of Lititz, and Brent Nolt of Brownstown; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Vera (Jerry Sensenig) of Quarryville, Paulene (Landis Weaver) of Quarryville, Amos Nolt, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Peach Bottom, and Aaron Nolt (Loretta) of Ephrata. He is preceded in death by siblings, Martin Nolt (Eva) of Peach Bottom and Mabel Nolt.
Elmer was an active member of Groffdale Mennonite Church, where he served as a trustee and in numerous other positions. He was a truck driver for E. K. Bare & Sons for 55 years as an owner-operator. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at the beach in their home in Angola By The Bay, DE, and winters in Sarasota, FL. They also loved to go camping and riding motorcycles with friends and family. He was happiest when spending time with his loved ones.
Elmer was a devoted husband to Minerva and together they built a full and happy life firmly rooted in the values of faith, love, and hospitality. Elmer has gifted his loved ones with countless memories of laughter, kindness, and goodwill. He will be missed by all whose lives he has touched. Our family would like to extend our appreciation to the Ephrata Community Hospital for the love and care that they showed to Elmer and our family during his stay in the hospital.

Elva Jane Nolt, 49, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020.
She was born in Bart Township to John M., of East Earl, and the late Elva (Wanner) Sensenig Horst. She was the wife of Aaron Z. Nolt, Jr., with whom she shared 28 years of marriage.
She was a member of Springville Mennonite Church.
Jane was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband and father, Jane is survived by five children, Jay Tylor, husband of Abby (Nolt) Nolt of Denver, Jessica P., wife of Nelson Zeiset of Clearville, Aaron Mitchell, husband of Bethany (Horst) Nolt of Denver, Julie R., wife of Brandon Gingrich of Fredericksburg, Amber J. Ivan M. Nolt, 96, of Ephrata, died Monday, June 8, 2020 of natural causes at Lincoln Christian Home.
Born in New Holland, he was a son of the late Eli O. and Mattie M. (Martin) Nolt. His first wife, Anna S. (Weaver) Nolt, died Aug. 8, 2000. He was married 17 years to his second wife, Mary M. (Oberholtzer) Nolt.
Ivan worked in drafting and construction with Horst Construction and the former Triple H Construction before serving as house parents with Northern Youth Programs in Canada. Following that he worked for about 14 years at Christian Aid Ministries. Ivan was a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church where he served as deacon.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, are 5 children, I. Mark, married to Marie (Weaver) Nolt of Ephrata, James K., married to Sarah (High) Nolt of Ephrata, Martha Anne, married to Dennis Rhodes of New Waterford, OH, K. Timothy, married to Minerva (Zimmerman) Nolt of Denver, and Rhoda G., married to David Martin of Ephrata; 28 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Elizabeth, married to Moses Good of Manheim; 1 brother, Allen, married to Florence (Horst) Nolt of New Holland; 3 sisters-in-law, Anna Mary Nolt of Ephrata, Mary Nolt of Richland, and Anna Nolt of Manheim; and 1 brother-in-law, Samuel Martin of Intercourse.
Preceding him in death in addition to his first wife is a grandson, Samuel Martin; 3 great-grandchildren, Diana Burkholder, Lauren Rhodes, and Declan Rhodes; and 8 siblings, Titus Nolt, Ella Nolt, David Nolt, Eli Nolt, John Nolt, Martin Nolt, Martha Martin, and Irvin Nolt.

Jennie M. Nolt, 82, of Blue Ball, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Born in East Earl Twp. She was the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Lizzie (Martin) Nolt.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Kaleb Aaron Nolt was born silently at 2:13 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at home, a son of Alvin W. and Annie R (Oberholtzer) Nolt of Mifflinburg.
Surviving in addition to his parents are six siblings, J. Eric Nolt, David M. Nolt, Lauren E. Nolt, Ryan A. Nolt, Nathaniel A. Nolt, Adam L. Nolt; paternal grandparents, Amos W. and Emma Z. Nolt of Lewisburg; and maternal grandparents, Harry L. and Alta Z. Oberholtzer of Millmont.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Edna M. (Reiff) Oberholtzer; and a stillborn brother, Joseph O. Nolt.
There will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 22, at Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church Cemetery, with Minister Clarence Reiff officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrel Nolt and Curvin Oberholtzer.

Katie W. Nolt, 96, of Stevens, died on Monday, January 27, 2020, surrounded by her family, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Hinkletown, she was a daughter of the late Harry N. and Emma Z. (Wenger) Snyder. Her first husband, John M. Sauder, died June 5, 1956. Her second husband, Raymond W. Nolt, died Oct. 1, 2015.
Katie was both a homemaker and worked outside the home. She was a kind friend to all. She enjoyed house plants, cats, reading, and current events.
Surviving are 4 children, Harvey S., married to Grace I. (Weber) Sauder of New Holland, Irene S. Haas of New Holland, Ruth S., married to Jody L. Ansel of Stevens, and Esther S., married to Francis E. McGill of Villanova; 8 step children, Anna H. Brubacher, Paul H. Nolt, Melvin H. Nolt, Titus H. Nolt, Mary H. Martin, Mabel H. Brubaker, Harvey H. Nolt, and Eva H. Nolt; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and 6 half-brothers and sisters, John Jacob Snyder, Anna Mary Reiff, Joseph Snyder, Ella Fox, Lloyd Snyder, and Earl Snyder.
Preceding her in death are 3 children, Alta S. Sauder, Laura S. Nolt, and Leroy S. She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).

Lavina S. (Martin) Burkholder Nolt, 82, of Kutztown, died Friday, July 31, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Aaron W. Nolt. Her first husband, John Z. Burkholder, predeceased her. Born in New Holland, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Noah K. and Emma S. (Shirk) Martin. A member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites, Lavina attended Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown.
SURVIVORS: In addition to her husband, Lavina is survived by her children: Mervin M., husband of Lorene M. (Martin) Burkholder, Wakarusa, IN; Marian M. (Burkholder), wife of Jonas M. Hoover, Penn Yan, NY; James M., husband of Mabel K. (Shirk) Burkholder, Latham, MO; Ada Mae M. (Burkholder), wife of Lewis N. Reiff, Woodbury, Bedford County; Lucille M. Lena H. Nolt, 95, of Newswanger Road, Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, August 21, 2020, at her home with her daughter, Martha Wenger.
She was born in Ephrata Township to the late Noah and Martha (Hurst) Burkholder and was the wife of the late John M. Nolt who passed away in 2001.
She was a member of Schaefferstown Mennonite Church, Myerstown. She enjoyed embroidering and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lena is survived by two sons, John B., husband of Lucy Nolt of Bowmansville, and David, husband of Kathy Nolt of East Earl; three daughters, Anna Mary, wife of Marlin G. Martin of Fredericksburg, Emma, wife of Henry Weber of East Earl, and Martha, wife of Ivan Wenger of Ephrata; 20 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Ruth Hoover, son-in-law, Philip Hoover, brothers, Isaac, Levi, and David Burkholder, sisters, Lizzie Martin, Emma Weaver, and Mary Esch.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020, from 6 to 8pm at the Schaefferstown Mennonite Church (Hope Conf.), 625 N. Market Street (Rte. 419 North), Myerstown, PA 17088. Martin Nolt was born to Rufus & Lizzie Zimmerman Nolt on Sept. 29, 1927. He passed away Nov. 30, 2020 at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home, Whitemouth, MB, reaching the age of 93 years.
Dad spent his growing up years in Lancaster County, PA. He was baptized in Weaverland Conference Church. He married Edna Kurtz on Oct. 6, 1949. She passed away Nov. 5, 2003. They set up their home close to Lebanon, PA, then in 1967 they moved to Beausejour, MB, with their 5 sons. Dad farmed & worked out in PA & continued the same in Manitoba.
He is survived by 5 sons: Ivan & Susan, Whitemouth, MB, Allen & Cheryl, Millersberg, PA. John & Evelyn, Niverville, MB, Martin & Janet, Beausejour, MB, Marvin & Janet, Beausejour, MB, 18 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren, 3 brothers: Rufus, John & Vera, Lloyd & Reba, 7 sisters: Lizzie & David Gingrich, Lena & Carl Martin, Emma Martin, Miriam & Nathan Oberholtzer, Mabel & Raymond Hoover, Anna Mae & Enos Hoover, Nora & Carl Burkholder, 1 sister-in-law Martha Nolt, also many nieces, nephews, brothers/sister in-law.
He was predeceased by his wife Edna, brother Titus, sister & brother-in-law Etta & Phares Hoover, sister-in-law Bernice Nolt, brother-in-law Harlen Martin, great granddaughter Olivia Nolt.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service was held. Interment was in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Beausejour.

Megan Breanne Nolt, age 5 weeks 6 days of Fennimore, WI passed away at home on Tuesday June 23, 2020, at 1:10 P.M. The infant daughter of Merle and Grace Ann Nolt and big brother Ashton. Megan was born on May 13, 2020 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI; she was diagnosed with POMT-1 gene disorder (Muscle Eye Brain disease) and also had Hydrocephalus.
Megan is survived by her parents, Merle and Grace Ann Nolt and brother Ashton of Fennimore, WI; grandparents Lamar and Priscilla Shirk of Thorp, WI and Nathan and Ella Mae Nolt of Fennimore; great-grandparents; Issac and Anna Mae Shirk of Narvon, PA and Titus and Mary Zimmerman of Narvon, PA and Ivan and Irene Martin of Litiz, PA, aunts and uncles; Daran and Lisa Zimmerman of Stanley, WI and Linford Shirk of Windsor, MO, Regina Shirk, Darla Jean Shirk, Janice Shirk, Colleen Shirk, Kendall Shirk and Tristan Shirk at home. Megan was preceded in death by her great grandparents Elmer and Pauline Nolt and cousin Kade Nolt.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday June 26, 2020 at the Shady Grove Mennonite Church in Fennimore Township Grant County Wisconsin with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4:00 and from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday June 25, 2020 at the residence of Merle and Grace Nolt. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore assisted the family.
Nolt, Shirley B. Brubaker

Shirley B. Nolt, 87, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Luther Acres in Lititz. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Andrew L. and Vernetta Burkholder Brubaker. She was the wife of the late Frank S. Nolt for 64 years prior to his passing on December 20, 2019.
A homemaker, Shirley was a dedicated member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang with the Matins choir. Earlier in her life, she sang in other church choirs and was involved children's ministries, including special needs children. She devoted her life to raising her own children and caring for her family.
She is survived by six children, Andrew, husband of Loretta Kratz Nolt, of Lititz, Margaret, wife of Leonard Marsch, of Lancaster, Christine, wife of Charles Hash, of Lititz, Kathryn, wife of Dr. James Edwards, of Lancaster, Julie, wife of Kyle Hunt, of Leola, and Jason, husband of Tina Dennis Nolt, of Manheim; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by ten siblings.A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA. Private interment will be in Salunga Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive guests during a viewing at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Bertha B. Ocker, age 71, of Chambersburg, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, July 5, 2020 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born December 14, 1948 in Chambersburg, PA, the daughter of the late Clyde H. and M. Naomi (Burkholder) Lehman.
Bertha was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church. She enjoyed giving of her time in relief work at Cumberland Clothing Center. Bertha was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Along with Merle E. Ocker, her beloved husband of 50 years, she is survived by four sons, Steven (Sharon) of Chambersburg, M. Kenneth (Melinda) of Orrstown, Dean (Denise) of Chambersburg and Ronald of St. Thomas; three daughters, Barbara (Conrad) Horst of Millen, GA, Joanne (Edwin) Shenk of Womelsdorf, PA and Joyce (Wayne) Diem of Shippensburg; 23 grandchildren; five brothers, Daniel (Eunice), Harry (Kathleen), Melvin (Sheila) and Lee (Margaret) and Clyde B. (Brenda); four sisters, Norma Lehman, Rhoda Lehman, Miriam (Carl) Strite and Naomi (Dennis) Risser; two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Nancy) Martin and Harold Rife; sister-in-law, Eunice Lehman and lots of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dale Ocker; granddaughter, Doreen Horst; brother, Clair Lehman and two sisters, Mary Martin and Ellen Rife.

Nelson Ocker, age 62 of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Chambersburg. He was born December 23, 1957 in Chambersburg, the son of the late John Ocker, Sr. and Janet (Reiff) Ocker.
Nelson was a member of Newburg Mennonite Church. Nelson worked as a farmer and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening and writing poems.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janice (Hege) Ocker of Shippensburg. He is also survived by three sons, Randy (Diane) Ocker of South Carolina, Joel (Sarah) Ocker of Georgia and Caleb (Darla) Ocker of Ohio; three daughters, Jolene (Jared) Brougher of Chambersburg, Katie (Andrew) Groff of Lancaster and Katrina (Devin) Nolt of Ephrata; brother, John (Ruby) Ocker, Jr. of Chambersburg; two sisters, Donna (John) Diller and Sharon Ocker both of Chambersburg and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two stillborn grandchildren, Jedrek Ocker and Cassidy Brougher.

Harvey Otto, 73, of Humboldt, Illinois passed away at 4:32 P.M. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the Arthur Home, Arthur, Illinois.

Harvey was born on October 30, 1946 in Coles County, IL. He was a son of Silvanus D. and Lydia (Stutzman) Otto.
He is survived by three sisters, Esther Herschberger of Humboldt, IL, Mary Ann Schrock of Sullivan, IL and Martha Plank and her husband Elmer of Arthur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, infant brother, John William Otto and Jonas Otto and his wife Beaulah, one sister, Edna Keim and her husband Mose, as well as brothers-in-law, Melvin Schrock and Ervin Herschberger.
Harvey was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Jerry Otto Jr., 82, of Arcola, Illinois passed away at 1:20 A.M. on Wednesday, July 08, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Jerry was born on September 16, 1937. He was a son of Jerry S. Sr. and Elizabeth (Mast) Otto. He married Anna Marie Chupp on October 27, 1959 in _. She passed away on March 29, 2005.
He is survived by eight children, Norman Otto and his wife Carolyn of Arcola, IL, Marjorie Kay Otto and her husband Eli of Tuscola, IL, Linda Plank and her husband Glen of Arcola, IL, Marilyn Yoder and her husband Paul of Sullivan, IL, Verda Miller and her husband Larry of Arthur, IL, Mervin Otto and his wife Lou Ida of Plains, MT and Marvin J. Otto and his wife Mary of Arcola, IL, 43 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one sister, Verna Chupp and her husband Melvin, three sisters-in-law, Mary Otto, Ida Mae (Otto) Helmuth and Martha Otto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four grandchildren, Lavern Plank, Rebecca Jo Otto, Wendell Eugene Helmuth and Kurtis Eugene Otto, two stillborn infant siblings, one sister, Clara, and eight brothers, Henry, Edward, Albert, Freeman, Simon, Fred, Melvin and Alvin.

ARTHUR, Ill. (WAND) - Authorities have released the name of a man who died after a horse-drawn buggy overturned in June. Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said the crash happened on June 19, when the buggy left the road and overturned in a ditch. This happened near 225 E. County Road 500 N. in Arthur.
I understand that a semi-truck passed Jerry Otto Jr in the buggy spooking the horse causing the accident which occurred just east of Lester O. Miller’s farm (about 2.25 miles east of 4-way stop at Vine & St Hwy 133, and 1 mile north. Jerry was in the Carle Hospital since the accident on June 19 until July 8.

Joe D. Otto, 57, of Topeka, died at 5:55 am on Friday, December 18, at his residence. He was born on February 23, 1963 in LaGrange to Daniel M. and Susan (Yoder) Otto. On September 1, 1988 in Noble County he married Maryann Fry, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are stepmother, Elsie Otto of Topeka; six sons, Orlie (Julie) Otto of Topeka, Lyle (Sharlyn) Otto of Millersburg, Christy (Martha) Otto of Millersburg, James Otto, Wayne Otto and Caleb Otto all at home; seven daughters, Loretta (Harvey) Miller of Ligonier, Edna (Loren) Petersheim of LaGrange, Mary (Jr.) Troyer of Topeka, Lorene (Lamar) Miller of Topeka, Susan Otto, Waneta Otto and Ellen Otto all at home; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Wilbur (Sarah) Otto of Ligonier, Christy (Edna) Otto of Topeka, Clyde (Suvilla) Otto of Hillsboro, WI, Cletus Otto of Topeka; three sisters, Mary Otto and Katie Otto of Topeka, Alma (Lavern) Miller of Hillsboro, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; two infant brothers, Clarence and Samuel Otto.
Joe was a farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 19, all day Sunday, December 20, at the Ura Miller residence, 7315 W. 200 S., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, December 21, the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Harley Mast and the home ministers. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana. Levi C. Otto, 83, of Sullivan, Illinois passed away at 12:20a.m. Wednesday September 16, 2020 in his residence.

Levi was born August 9, 1937 in Arthur, the son of Chris and Malinda Miller Otto. He married Dorothy Chupp on November 28, 1957. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy of Sullivan; son Wilmer (Lela) Otto of Sullivan; daughters Mary (Allen) Kaufman of Tuscola and Martha (David) Kaufman of Newaygo, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two stillborn children; twin sister Louise and Rebecca and three brothers-in-law.

Martha Fern Otto, 79, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born on January 29, 1941 in Arthur, Illinois to Levi and Ella (Beachy) Otto.
Martha is survived by sisters Katie Otto Jackson, Sturgis, Michigan, Mary Ellen Otto, Elkhart; brothers Emory (Idella) Otto, Litiz, Pennsylvania, Lester (Shari) Otto, Bristol; and a sister-in-law Naomi Otto, Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Milton and Larry Otto.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 14, 2020, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Salem Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall, New Paris. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Hubert Schmucker will officiate. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Wayne was a member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Arcola, IL.
He started working in the Drywall industry when he was 16 years old. Wayne worked for Schrock Drywall for well over 50 years. He has repaired sewing machines and taxied Amish for the past five years.
Wayne enjoyed drinking coffee at Yoder’s in Arthur, first thing in the morning and also in the afternoon.

Peachey, Bertha L. Byler

Peachey, Bertha L. (Byler), 83, of Valley View Terrace, Belleville, PA, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at the Terrace. Born March 11, 1927 in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late David A. and Sadie (Peachey) Byler. On February 21, 1948, she married Glenn E. Peachey. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2015.
She is survived by eight children, Lucille Yutzy (Tim) of McAlevy’s Fort; Glenda Hartzler (Don) of Belleville; Sharon Spicher (Tom) of McAlevy’s Fort; Marlene Zook (Herb) of Belleville, PA; Sheldon Peachey (Barb) of Belleville, PA; Mark Peachey (Susan) of Belleville, PA; Tim Peachey (Marlene) of McAlevy’s Fort, PA; Ronda Yoder (Mike) of McAlevy’s Fort, PA; 24 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Lois Peachey, David Byler, Raymond Byler and Leonard Byler.
Bertha was preceded in death by two sons, Arlan Peachey and David Lee Peachey, two grandchildren, Joel Peachey and Rachel Peachey, as well as her siblings, Ella Mae Byler, Verna Yoder, Martha Zook, Ruth Kauffman, Jesse Byler, and Florence Richer.
Primarily a homemaker, Bertha had an open heart and home to a wide variety of people including her egg customers, neighbors, fresh air children, and international guests. She was a member of Allensville Mennonite Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school leader, Sunday school superintendent of the children’s department, and a faithful participant in the Ladies Sewing Circle. She served as a volunteer at the Thrift & Gift Shop in Belleville for a number of years and she and her husband helped to prepare and serve for Meals on Wheels. Bertha was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and her church family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as quilting.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 at Allensville Mennonite Church with Pastors Sherman Stoltzfus, Vaughn Kanagy and Bob Zook officiating. Burial at Locust Grove Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2020.
Peachey, Caleb J.
April 1, 1931 - October 30, 2020
Caleb J. Peachey, 89 of 25 Juliasam Drive, Belleville, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on the morning of October 30, 2020 at his home.
Born April 1, 1931 in Brown Township, he was a son of the late Samuel Hildeburtus Peachey and Julia Ann (Yoder) Peachey. On October 6, 1956, he married Bertha S. (Stoltzfus) Peachey. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2016.
Surviving are: his children, Emerson Peachey & wife Sandy of Reedsville, PA; Charlene Brawley & husband Chuck of Mount Airy, MD; Viola Monaghan & husband Gerry of Ithaca, NY; Virgil Peachey of Portland, OR; Cecilia Cressent & husband George of Briarcliff Manor, NY; and Elliott Peachey & wife Jessica of Grasonville, MD; 12 grandchildren, and siblings, Sarah Glick of Belleville, Lois Yoder & husband Williard of McAlevy's Fort, and Lydia Frey of Goshen, IN, as well as a sister-in-law, Suvilla Peachey of Belleville.
Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ben Peachey, Fanny Miller, Peter Peachey, Mary Miller, Joshua Peachey, Julia King, a stillborn daughter, Darlene Peachey, a daughter-in-law, Dana Peachey, and granddaughters, Erin Peachey and Corey Tindall.
Caleb grew up as an Amish farmboy and the son of a blacksmith. He started his own excavating company, CJ Peachey Excavating. He later became a long-distance truck driver and had worked for Fulk Roads Construction. After his retirement, he and his wife Bertha operated Hickory Grove Bed & Breakfast from their home.
He was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church where he served as an elder. He also previously attended Conestoga Mennonite Church and Otelia Mennonite Church where he served as an enthusiastic song leader. He served on the board at Valley View Haven and Belleville Mennonite School and was an MDS coordinator. Caleb enjoyed riding horses, taking people on rides with his horse drawn spring wagon, raising chicken and ducks, memorizing and reciting poetry, and engaging others in a game of Scrabble. He helped to initiate Meals on Wheels in the area as well.
Being born on April Fool's Day, this carried on through his life. He led a very jovial and mischievous life and loved to tell people he was a ‘fool for Christ.' He always had a ready smile, a twinkle in his sparkling blue eyes, and a poem in his pocket.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Allensville Mennonite Church. His family will receive friends following the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Peggar, Martha Irene Martin

Martha Irene Peggar, 85, of Circleville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020, with her husband, Vuriel, at her side.
Martha was born the fifth of 12 children on June 28, 1934, in Sheldon. She married Vuriel Peggar on Dec. 24, 1954. They were married for 65 years. They lived in Conrath until they moved to Ohio in 2014 to be with their three daughters.
Martha was devoted to her faith and her loving Lord as well as to her family. She had a beautiful soul and a kind, loving heart toward all people. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One could often hear her singing or praying throughout the day. She enjoyed her gardens and picking blueberries and raspberries. She loved her porch swing, especially with a child in her lap.
One of Martha’s hobbies was baking with her children and grandchildren. She loved attending church services and worshiping Jesus. Martha touched many lives by her sweet, loving spirit and was truly a gift from God. She will be dearly missed by many.
Martha is survived by her husband, Vuriel; her daughters, Linda (Eric) Gorby of Galloway, Ohio, Hope (John) Tindor of Dover, Ohio and Beth (Berl) Gorby of Circleville, Ohio and her sons, Dean (Susy) Peggar of Chippewa Falls and Nathan (Tammy) of Ladysmith. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd, Earl and Nelson and her sisters, Grace, Mary, Alma, Leona and Alta. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, Tonya, Josiah, Micah, Jonathon, Kara, Christopher, Bethany, Ryan, Robbie, Ricky, Randy, Jason, Jake and Michael as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jason and Gladys Martin and her brothers, Lester, Ray and Marlin.
Martha is now at home with the Lord, enjoying the peace of our great God.

Peshina, Destiny Joy
February 12, 1986 - June 15, 2020
Destiny Joy Peshina, 34, of Goshen died Monday, June 15, 2020 at her home, surrounded by family, after a 2009 cancer diagnosis.
She was born February 12, 1986 in Goshen to James and Ruth (Miller) Peshina.
They survive along with grandparents, John and Eileen Landis, of Manheim Pennsylvania, and Edna Miller of Goshen; sister, Elya (Braden) Brubaker of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; a brother, Ryan Peshina of Goshen; and niece and nephews, Lexi and Nicholas Brubaker and Kashton Peshina.
Destiny was a 2004 graduate of Bethany Christian High School, where she excelled in athletics. Following her cancer diagnosis, Destiny enrolled and completed nursing school, working as an R.N. for as long as her health allowed. She would not let cancer define her.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bethany Christian Schools soccer field. All who knew her know how she loved soccer. Casual dress is requested. With Covid-19 restrictions, please keep distance and wear a mask if you feel comfortable.
A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the B.C.S. middle school gym, 2904 South Main Street, Goshen. Family friend, Rhonda Yoder will officiate.
Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Peters, Arlene Ulrich

Arlene Peters, 79, of Stevens, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at home.
She was born in Schoeneck to the late Raymond and Magdalene (Newswanger) Ulrich and was the wife of the late John Elmer Peters who passed away in 2004.
She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church; she taught Sunday school for 60 years.
Arlene was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, quilting, and was a people person.
Arlene is survived by five children, Cindy, wife of James Jurasinski of Mohnton, Debra, wife of Lynn Zimmerman of Ephrata, John Peters of Daytona Beach, FL, Della, wife of Ted Troop of Conestoga, Steve Peters at home; eight grandchildren, Marlana, wife of Delvin Hahn, AF 1st LT. Madison Ray Zimmerman, Marshal, husband of Sonya Zimmerman, Marina Zimmerman, Mason Zimmerman, Beverly Fox, USN MMA2 (SS) Brian Fox, Jessica, wife of Taylor Henry; several great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Evelyn Ulrich of Martindale, Luke (Willa) Ulrich of Denver, Raymond (Janet) Ulrich of Reinholds, James (Sara) Ulrich of Denver, David (Kathy) Ulrich of New Holland, Mark (Marlene) Ulrich of Ephrata, Carl (Pam) Ulrich of New York. She was also a mother-in-law to Mark and Pearl House and Grandma to Sean Andes, Afton (Ben) Nissley, Kiev Watterson and Tim (Katie) Watterson and numerous foster children.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the Martindale Mennonite Cemetery.

Amanda D (Schlabach) Petersheim, 70, of Gordonville peacefully passed away in her sleep on Thursday, October 22, 2020. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, sister and daughter. She was the wife of Melvin L. Petersheim with whom she shared 41 1/2 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a still-born son and her parents.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 with funeral services on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2 PM. Both will be held at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2903 Church Road, Bird-in-Hand, PA 17505 with graveside services and interment held at Spring Garden Church, 5157 Old Philadelphia Pike, Kinzers,PA 17535 directly after the service.

Anna R. Petersheim, 76 years, 4 months, 6 days, of East Earl, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin U. and Rachel R. Petersheim. She was a member of West Haven Amish-Mennonite Church, New Holland. Anna enjoyed her collection of salt and pepper shakers, bells, etc. She also enjoyed making dolls and quilting.

Petre, Ronald Allen

Ronald Allen “Ronny” Petre. 23 of Frankfort, passed from this life to Glory on Saturday evening, March 14, 2020 at home. His unexpected death was due to probable heart complications. Ronny was born to Ivan and Lillian Witmer Petre on December 8, 1996 in Sparta, TN. He spent most of his life in Nicaragua and Honduras with his family as missionaries. In 2011, he was injured in an accident and lost the use of his legs.
He is survived by his parents, three brothers and seven sisters plus a large extended family. For the past year and a half he lived with his sister and family, Jerald and Janice Troyer of Frankfort. Most knew him as the friendly cashier at The Old Home Place.
He was a member of the Little Creek Mennonite Church at 3491 Little Creek Road in Frankfort, OH. Calling hours will be there on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, March 19 at 10 a.m. with burial following at the church cemetery.

Levi H. Plank, age 83, of Nappanee, passed away at 12:03 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2020, at his residence after a short illness. He was born February 19, 1937 in Plain City, OH to John Henry and Cora Alma (Knepp) Plank. On September 25, 1958 he married Drusilla Kauffman. Levi was a member and had served as Bishop of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife, Drusilla Plank, Nappanee; children, John (Cara) Plank, Laurie (Dan) Kuhns, both of Bremen, Kenneth (Ruth) Plank, Sharon (Buster) Coleman, both of Nappanee, Mary (Sam) Wingard, Middlebury, Nora (Eli ) Bontrager, Goshen, David (Rachel) Plank, Kaleva, MI, Rosetta (LaVern) Yutzy, Lester(Bonnie) Plank, Martha (Dennis) Miller, Joseph (Rachel) Plank, Kathryn (LaVern) Bontrager, Levi Jr. (Erma) Plank, all of Nappanee; 77 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola Delance, Sarasota, FL, and Barbara Gingerich, Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Emmalea Plank, Regina Bontrager, Floyd Kuhns; a great grandson, Zachary Borkholder; brothers, Danny & Johnny Plank; and sister, Katie Aulls.

Edward married Elda M. (Friesen) 21 Apr 1973 at Meade, Meade Co., KS. Elda was born 27 Nov 1936 at Meade, Meade Co., KS., and died 08 Nov 2004 at Fresno, Cresno Co., CA., where she was buried.
Edward and Elda had a daughter, Denise Carol Plank who is living in Fresno, California.
Surviving Plank siblings: Martha (Walter Hiram Gingerich, deceased ); Catherine; Eli (Cora Louise Horst); & Ada (Reuben D Yutzy).

Velma Nisly Plank, age 90 years, one month and 22 days, of Goshen, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, in the home of her granddaughter where she had resided for her last nine days. Velma was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 15, 1930, to Eli and Alma Nisly. Velma was the second of fifteen children.
Velma was married to the late Joe Nisly on May 11, 1950. They had 10 children, Elnora (Gene) Miller of Goshen, Loretta (Ervin) Wengerd of Batesburg, South Carolina, Clayton (Thelma) Nisly of Cuenca, Ecuador, Regina (Jonas) Bontrager of Hutchinson, Kansas, Wilbur (Grace) Nisly of Corvallis, Montana, Sharon (Arlo) Schmidt of Toto, Karen (Ken) Dodd of Flint, Texas, Ron (Beverly) Nisly of Hutchinson, Kansas, Marilyn (John) Gingerich of Arthur, Illinois, and Marlin (Lucille) Nisly of Victor, Montana; 41 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren.
After being a widow for seven years, Velma married Roy Plank of Bremen, Ohio, on December 20, 1975. Roy was the father of the late Beverly Grimm, Vera (Herb) Reed of Greenbelt, Maryland, Roberta Moore of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Stephen (Susan) Plank of Wakefield, Virginia. He had three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; first and second husbands; brothers, Vernon and Willis Nisly, and a sister, Sylvia Nisly. She is survived by siblings Matilda Stutzman, Calvin, Harley, Wayne, Liz Bender, Dorothy Miller, Marvin, Elva Smith, Maynard, Merle and Sanford.
Velma was a homemaker all her adult life. She and Roy parented foster children for several years. They also volunteered in various mission endeavors, and in later years they worked as drivers for local Amish families.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020. The funeral service is at 11:00 followed by the burial. All will be at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, 13483 CR 38, Millersburg.
